[3-4] Hansel and Gretel 糖果屋

Hansel and Gretel live in a small house with their father.

They are poor and the children often feel hungry.

One day, they walk into the forest to look for food.

“Look, Gretel!” says Hansel.

“I see a house!”

The house is made of candy.

The walls are made of chocolate.

The roof is made of cookies.

The windows are made of sugar.

“Wow! It looks so yummy,” says Gretel.

“Yes, I am hungry too,” says Hansel.

They eat the candy.

Crunch, crunch, crunch!

Suddenly, the door opens.

An old woman comes out.

“Hello, children. Come inside. 

You will be safe here,” she says.

At first, the woman is kind.

She smiles and gives them food.

But soon, she shows her true face.

She is a wicked witch!

She grabs Hansel and puts him in a cage.

“Gretel, clean the house and cook!” the witch says.

She wants to eat Hansel soon.

Gretel is brave.

She thinks fast and makes a plan.

“Please look in the oven,” says Gretel.

The witch bends down to check.

Push! Gretel closes the oven door.

The witch is gone.

Gretel runs to Hansel.

“Brother, you are free!”

They hug and laugh.

Together, they go home.

Their father is so happy.

They never go hungry again.
